G80 Caseless Assault Rifle

Designers Note: This is a more "current" look of a weapon I had designed for Shadowrun years ago, based on a Bullpup G36.  And given some design elements brought up by BeardedGreenLizard.

The Heckler & Koch G80 is an inexpensive, reliable assault rifle available to mercenary and national military units in the 2-4 Cavalry universe post Eagle Hammer. Given that railgun technology in the 28th century has of course made equivalent sized weapons easier to manufacture, caseless weapons still form a bulk of weapon sales in the human universe, and weapon technology continues to keep caseless weapons relevant in a world where railguns are considered the pinnacle of land combat systems. While lasers and other sophisticated weapons are available, most militaries still buy weapons like this in order to reduce costs. is a simple 5mm weapon, firing from a 40-round magazine and while the 5mm caliber is fairly popular, the weapon can be rechambered for other rounds as well based on customer needs and requirements, but is more commonly sold in this configuration. It has an 18-inch barrel and while compact, has an adjustable stock for various user arm lengths. Rail systems are mounted, and can naturally mount any accessories needed to enhance the accuracy of the weapon.
