Being ignored and forgotten is a painful experience. I knew from the beginning that it was inevitable-they told me so when I first opened my eyes and breathed. I would eventually be pushed away, no longer needed. And yet, even despite knowing and having years to prepare, it still hurt. It always hurt. It wasn’t my ego or pride that hurt.
